November 5th, 2013
Dear Women of Meadowlark,
We would like to invite you to participate in our project
titled, “Women’s Roles through Time.” We will connect 16 women, 8 residents at Meadowlark and 8
college students, to explore generational differences. We will gather
information through conversational storytelling and differences in cuisine. The
project involves four meetings:
1. Tuesday,
November 19th, 3:00 Living Room – We would like to get to know you and do a
short interview about your perception of how women’s roles have changed.
2. Thursday,
November 21st, 12:30-1:30 Manhattan Room – You will find someone you
connect with to be your partner and have conversation over coffee.
3. Between
November 21st and December 10th – Meet with your partner to cook! You and your
partner will write down the recipe and document the process through
photographs. Learn
about each other through collaborative cooking and sharing a meal together!
4. Tuesday, December 10th,
Between 1-3 individually scheduled meetings – We will meet at Meadowlark for final
interviews to ask what you learned about the generation of college students and
collect your documentation of cooking together. In the end, your recipe could
possibly enter a larger cookbook inspired by a variety of people from
Manhattan.
Please
RSVP to let me know if you are willing and interested in participating. We
would like eight participants and if you are not able we will reach out to
more. Please contact Lauren at lkarle@ksu.edu or call me at ***-***-****.
Sincerely,
Lauren
Karle and Stephanie Boal
